Basically if you have the space for floorstanding speakers you will find that these are the ones to go for if you want the best possible sound. This is especially true if you love listening to music with a big bass. The reason for this is because of the sheer size of the speaker, you simply cannot get the same sound via a smaller speaker. So if you listen to a lot of rock music or want a fantastic home cinema then floor standing speakers are what you want. If you aren't all that bothered about the sound quality and don't have a lot of space then bookshelf or ceiling speakers might be what you want instead
